In a heart-wrenching incident, at least 48 civilians lost their lives yesterday, Wednesday, in Goma, following a military operation aimed at quelling an anti-United Nations demonstration in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to an internal document from the Congolese armed forces, obtained and verified by sources in military and intelligence, the toll from the operation on Wednesday in Goma, aimed at suppressing an anti-UN protest, stands at 48 fatalities and 75 injured protesters. Additionally, a police officer lost their life during the operation.
