In an official announcement that marks a new era for Saudi Arabian football, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation has named Italian coach Roberto Mancini as the new technical director for the Saudi national football team.
Mancini’s tenure is set to extend until the year 2027, as revealed during a press conference held in the capital city of Riyadh on Monday.
The signing of the contract was overseen by Yasser Al-Misehal, the President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. Mancini, who arrived in the Kingdom, is set to commence his mission of coaching and guiding the national team towards new heights.
Mancini’s remarkable coaching career includes his recent accomplishments with the Italian national team. Under his guidance, Italy clinched the title of the UEFA European Championship in 2020, showcasing Mancini’s adept leadership.
The Italian coach also led his team to secure the third position in the UEFA European Championship tournaments of 2021 and 2023.
Prior to his role with the Italian national team, Mancini held coaching positions at various European clubs.
His tenure included management of renowned teams such as Fiorentina, Lazio, and Inter Milan in Italy, as well as Manchester City in England and Galatasaray in Turkey
