Former Navy SEAL Robert O’Neill, the man who claims to have killed Osama bin Laden, was reportedly arrested in Texas last Wednesday, according to the New York Post.

The newspaper reported that O’Neill, 47 years old, was taken into custody in Frisco. He is facing charges of first-degree assault and third-degree public intoxication, even though jail records only listed the assault charge.

The Frisco Police declined to provide further information on the matter. O’Neill was released on the same day after posting a $3,500 bond.

O’Neill gained widespread fame after attributing to himself the shots that ended the life of former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in a secret raid in 2011.

He detailed the incident in his 2011 memoir titled “The Operator.” However, the United States government has neither confirmed nor denied the story.

This recent incident and the assault charges aren’t the only controversies O’Neill has faced. In 2016, he faced charges of driving under the influence in Montana, which were later dropped.
