Two children were killed and six others were injured in a shelling attack in northwestern Syria on Saturday evening.
The incident unfolded in the residential neighborhoods of villages and towns located in the southern countryside of Idlib.
The local Civil Defense, operating in the area, reported that two siblings were fatally struck and their mother was injured.
Besides the children, three others, including a woman, sustained injuries during a Syrian Army bombardment targeting residential areas in the town of Kansafra, south of Idlib. Another elderly individual was injured in a similar attack on the neighboring village of Darsinbul.
The impact of the conflict extended to other villages as well, affecting Mijdaliya, Albara, and Almoazara to the south of Idlib. The outskirts of the village of Kafr Nuran to the west of Aleppo also experienced shelling, although no casualties have been reported yet.
Earlier on Saturday, the extremist faction “Anṣār al-Tawḥīd” detonated a tunnel that had been dug beneath the Mlajah Camp, which was under the control of the Syrian Army. This destructive act resulted in the unfortunate loss and injury of 25 soldiers.
The escalating violence in the region underscores the dire situation in Syria, particularly in the southern Idlib area, where civilians and children are bearing the brunt of the conflict between opposing forces.
The incident has sparked concerns over the safety and well-being of residents in these war-torn communities, prompting international attention to the need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
