Nine Israelis sustained injuries while scrambling to shelters after rocket attack alarms sounded in Tel Aviv and surrounding areas this Sunday morning, according to a spokesperson from a medical centre in Israel.
The injured were treated for various injuries incurred during their flight to safety following the alarm.
The Israeli Army Radio reported that the ballistic missile traveled approximately 2,000 kilometers and took 15 minutes to reach its target.
Former member of the Israeli “War Council,” Gadi Eisenkot, commented on the missile launched from Yemen, stating, “The problem is the disconnect between the war objectives and the required strategy,” adding that “reality has dramatically changed.”
Israeli media reported that the alarm sirens were heard across many residential gatherings in central Israel, the Gush Dan region, Modi’in, and Jerusalem.
No exceptional instructions were issued to the residents by the Home Front Command following the alerts.
It’s noteworthy that the missile, which was intercepted by the “Arrow 2” defense system, fell just six kilometers away from Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv.
Images and videos circulated on social media show the panic that gripped many Israelis coinciding with the sound of the alarm sirens in Tel Aviv and its vicinity during the interception operation executed by the Israeli military against a ballistic missile originating from Yemen.
A drone launched from Lebanon exploded in the border town of Metula, northern Israel, according to Hebrew media reports.
The Israeli military is currently verifying these reports, as stated by “Times of Israel” on Sunday.
There have been no reported injuries from the explosion, although there are some damages, initial reports from the German news agency indicate.
