At least eight civilians were killed, and 16 others injured on Wednesday due to renewed random artillery shelling exchanged between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in Al-Fashir after more than ten days of calm.
Eyewitnesses in the Dadanqa neighborhood told “Darfur24” that the intermittent artillery shelling between the two sides on Wednesday morning targeted a family’s home in the neighborhood, resulting in the immediate death of four family members and injuring others who were transported to the Military Hospital.
Medical sources at the Southern Hospital and Military Hospital revealed to “Darfur24” that the random artillery shelling carried out by the Rapid Support Forces caused the death of eight civilians and injured about 16 others in different neighborhoods of the city.
The medical sources added that the injuries varied in severity, with some of the wounded still receiving treatment at the Military Hospital.
The city of Al-Fashir had experienced a cautious calm in all combat axes over the past ten days, and the usual artillery shelling from the Rapid Support Forces had ceased, contributing to a relative stabilization of the city’s markets before the shelling resumed on Wednesday morning.
