Seven Nigerian soldiers were killed in a landmine explosion in northeastern Nigeria, a region plagued by ISIS-affiliated militants, according to anti-terrorist militias.

The soldiers were en route to Kokawe when a homemade explosive device detonated their truck, as reported by militia leaders.

Babakura Kolo, a militia commander, confirmed that the seven soldiers perished in the blast, which occurred in the village of Bauwati.

Another militia leader, Ibrahim Leman, also verified the incident and attributed the attack to ISIS in West Africa.

The explosion highlights the ongoing violence in the region, where ISIS affiliates continue to target military and civilian areas.

This attack contributes to the severe humanitarian crisis in northern Nigeria, where nearly 40,000 people have been killed and over two million displaced due to the ongoing insurgency.
