Matthew Miller, a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, stated that approximately 6,000 Americans have registered with the department seeking information, including details on how to leave Lebanon.
In a statement carried by the American channel “Alhurra” on Wednesday, Miller mentioned that Washington is coordinating with airlines to arrange additional flights out of Lebanon.
He emphasized that the department has directed Americans in Lebanon to register with the State Department to receive pertinent information, particularly regarding exit strategies from the country.
Miller clarified that not all of these 6,000 Americans are seeking assistance to leave but are looking for information and options.
The U.S. State Department has previously urged American citizens in Lebanon to leave the country while commercial flights are still available amidst escalating conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah.
