In a joint military operation conducted by the Somali National Army and international allies, over 60 terrorists from the Al-Shabaab militia, linked to Al-Qaeda, were neutralized. This operation took place in the village of Hilow Ba’aad, situated 8 kilometers southwest of the city of Halgan in Hiran province, central Somalia.
The Somali News Agency (SONNA) reported that this prolonged operation, still ongoing, led to the destruction of the terrorists’ bases and military equipment.
Late in November, the Somali Army executed a security operation targeting Al-Shabaab strongholds in the central region near the city of Harrartire. This resulted in the demise of a leader and three members of the movement.
The commander of the third unit of the Somali Army’s “Gorgor Special Forces,” Ali Aghe, stated, “We executed a specialized operation in the village of Haji, which resulted in the elimination of three members and a leader of the ‘Khawarij’ militia. Numerous militants were also apprehended.”
He further noted that the Somali Army confiscated the militants’ weapons and military equipment, with the Somali forces continuing their duties in the region.
Recently, the Somali Army, with its various units, has conducted multiple security operations targeting terrorist hideouts.
The Somali National Army and its international partners remain committed to continuing their offensive against Al-Shabaab, with the ultimate goal of eliminating the terrorist threat and restoring peace and stability in the country. The persistent efforts of the Somali forces, combined with international support, underline the determination to eradicate the influence of terrorist organizations and secure a safer, more stable future for Somalia.
