A devastating fire in a residential building in Nice, France, claimed the lives of seven people on Wednesday night, according to the local fire department.
The blaze erupted on the seventh floor of a building in the city’s popular Moulin district, although the cause of the fire remains unknown.
Despite extensive efforts to contain the fire, the local fire department confirmed, “Unfortunately, seven people lost their lives in this fire.”
One individual in critical condition was transported to the hospital, while two others sustained moderate injuries.
Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters encountered a “violent fire on the seventh floor of the building.”
They successfully rescued three people using ladders positioned against the building’s facade, while 33 others were moved to a safe location.
A total of 72 firefighters and 25 fire engines were involved in combating the blaze.
The tragedy highlights the urgent need for safety measures and investigations to prevent such incidents in the future.
