The 55th Cairo International Book Fair is set to commence at the Egypt International Exhibition Center tomorrow, January 24, 2024. Located in the Fifth Settlement, this year’s theme, “We Create Knowledge, We Preserve Words,” promises a vibrant showcase of cultural richness.
The fair’s cultural events will span from January 25 to February 6, with the Kingdom of Norway celebrated as the guest of honor.
Renowned Egyptologist Dr. Selim Hassan is named as the personality of the fair, while writer Yacoub El-Sharouni is spotlighted as the figure for the Children’s Book Fair.
This year’s edition spans an impressive 80,000 square meters, including five exhibition halls. An unprecedented 1200 publishers from 70 countries across the globe will participate, marking a significant increase in international presence. The fair will host approximately 5250 exhibitors this year.
The Minister of Culture highlighted the 55th edition’s significance, stating, “This year’s Cairo International Book Fair, a beacon of knowledge for Egyptian and Arab minds, continues to shape the thoughts of generations proud of their heritage.
The fair, beginning its journey at the Opera House, launches its 55th session from the same iconic venue, anticipated to be a milestone in its illustrious history.”
She further emphasized the participation of the Kingdom of Norway, viewing it as a bridge towards engaging with Northern European (Scandinavian) culture.
This year’s focus is on showcasing Egyptian and Arab creativity, fostering wide-ranging cultural exchange, and encouraging direct interaction between creators and diverse audiences.
The Ministry of Culture’s commitment to cultural equity and openness to global cultures is evident in this year’s fair.
