The General Authority for Hajj and Umrah Affairs in Libya announced on Monday evening the death of a Libyan pilgrim during the sacred standing on Mount Arafat.

According to the statement from the authority, the deceased pilgrim, named Saleh Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Huweil, was from the city of Al-Khums.

The statement added that a funeral prayer will be held for him in the Grand Mosque in Mecca after completing the burial procedures.

The Libyan Hajj mission, including all its administration and members, extended their heartfelt condolences to his family, praying that Allah accepts his pilgrimage, grants him mercy, and admits him into paradise.

This marks the fifth death among Libyan pilgrims this year. The authority had previously reported the deaths of four other pilgrims, most of whom passed away on Mount Arafat.

Mount Arafat, located near Mecca in Saudi Arabia, is a significant site in the Hajj pilgrimage, where pilgrims stand in prayer and reflection on the 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah.

The standing on Mount Arafat is considered the pinnacle of the Hajj pilgrimage.

The annual pilgrimage draws millions of Muslims from around the world, and despite extensive safety measures, incidents and health emergencies can occur due to the sheer number of participants and the physically demanding nature of the rituals.

The Libyan General Authority for Hajj and Umrah Affairs oversees the organization and welfare of Libyan pilgrims, ensuring they can fulfill their religious obligations safely.

The Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs at the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has announced the death of 14 Jordanian pilgrims during the Hajj pilgrimage.
