Ukraine has reported the death of five residents and the injury of four others in the Donetsk region as a result of ongoing military operations by Russian forces.
Simultaneously, Russia announced the deaths of two civilians and the injury of eight others due to Ukrainian shelling in the region.
Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the Donetsk regional administration, released a statement detailing the casualties.
He confirmed that the victims were residents of the Donetsk region and had been killed or injured due to actions by the Russian army in the area over the past day.
However, he stated that it is currently impossible to ascertain the exact number of casualties in the Mariupol and Volnovakha regions.
In a separate statement, Alexander Prokudin, the head of the Kherson region, reported that the Russian army had launched 61 strikes on the Kherson region within the past day.
This bombardment resulted in the death of one civilian and the injury of four others.
Prokudin highlighted that Russian forces targeted residential areas, lands, and even buildings of educational institutions, including pre-schools in the city of Kherson and the Perysylav area.
One person was killed, and four others were injured as a result of these attacks.
In contrast, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated, as reported by Russia Today, that Russian armed forces destroyed a Ukrainian military train carrying artillery ammunition for Ukrainian forces on the Donetsk axis.
The ministry added that the Russian forces used precision weapons to target the Ukrainian train, resulting in the elimination of around 30 Ukrainian soldiers and the destruction of artillery ammunition carriages, along with the destruction of 10 pieces of Ukrainian armed forces equipment.
The regional prosecutor’s office in Donetsk clarified that the shelling occurred in the past few hours, potentially involving cluster munitions such as the Uragan MLRS.
The victims were all inside their homes during the shelling and are currently in the hospital. The attack also caused damage to private homes and residential complexes in the area.
