The official website of the Moscow government reported that archaeologists in the Russian capital have discovered nearly 400 artifacts dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries.
According to the source, excavations were carried out over an area of more than five thousand square meters in the Khimki district of central Moscow in 2022-2023.
Among the unearthed artifacts are children’s toys, household tools, luggage, jewelry, dishes, rare coins, buttons, lipstick containers, all of which are now undergoing restoration.
The website also mentioned the discovery of a silver piece worth ten kopecks (a small coin) dating back to 1789, non-ferrous metal crosses, smoking pipes, various metal pieces, buttons, lead fillings, a bone comb, a porcelain doll, and a cigarette holder.
In addition, experts partially restored a large dish with floral decorations and leather shoes dating back to the 19th century.
It is worth noting that over the past 12 years, archaeological finds in the capital have been renewed with 100,000 artifacts.
The website concluded that “all these artifacts reflect the history of the Russian capital and tell the story of the lives and traditions of entire generations of Moscow residents.”
