The police in Bangladesh received a report from the families of 4 Bangladeshi youths who were abducted in Libya, with their captors demanding a ransom for their release, as reported by TBS news channel.

The families of the abducted youths received videos showing the youths being tortured by their captors through apps like WhatsApp.

The Bangladeshi police, represented by Officer Sohel Ahmed, acknowledged the abduction report and stated that actions would be taken in consultation with authorities in Libya.

According to the families’ complaint, the youths were offered jobs at a Libyan hospital for a fee of 430,000 taka (about $5050) each, facilitated by a local individual named Zaherul Islam.

The youths were initially taken to Dubai on tourist visas and then led to Libya via Egypt, where they were sold to a middleman and eventually abducted.

The abducted youths were identified as Wasim (22), Burhanuddin (19), Jaber Al-Rahim (19), and Naeemuddin (20).

A relative of one of the abducted youths, named Mohammad Naseruddin, disclosed that the captors demanded around $4700 for the release of the four by a specific deadline.

The families of the victims are in a state of despair, with Abdul Rahim, the father of Jabadu Rahim, expressing the severe financial pressures resulting from meeting ransom demands after already paying large sums for promised job opportunities abroad in Libya.

The captors demanded a ransom by 3:00 PM on Wednesday and threatened the youths’ lives if their demands were not met, prompting families to urgently secure the safety of their loved ones.
