A shooting near an Atlanta shopping mall killed three individuals, including a teenager, on Saturday, as confirmed by the police.

After being alerted about the shooting around 1:30 p.m. on Evans Street in Southwest Atlanta, homicide detectives arrived on the scene. Initial findings suggest one man confronted two others and started shooting.

In response, one of the two attacked men fired back. All three involved in the confrontation were killed from gunshot wounds.

The victims were identified as a 17-year-old, a man in his early 20s, and another in his late 30s, though their names weren’t publicly disclosed, as per WSB-TV. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

In an unrelated event on Drayton Road in Chesapeake, a shooting left five people injured, including four boys. Police responded to reports of the incident shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The injured were transported to local medical facilities, but the severity of their injuries remains unknown as of Saturday evening.

Local residents expressed their distress to News 3’s Kelsey Jones over the gun violence incident in their community.

Reports underlined that the US witnessed more than 500 mass shootings this year, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive, averaging nearly two mass shootings per day.

The Denver Police Department issued an alert on the “X” platform confirming a mass shooting incident that left five people injured, marking the 500th mass shooting this year.

Hours later, El Paso police reported an early morning mass shooting in East El Paso, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man and injuries to five others, bringing the total number of mass shootings to 501.

Mass shootings are defined as incidents in which four or more people are shot, either injured or killed, not including the shooter.
