The Israeli military announced on Friday the death of another soldier during ongoing battles in southern Gaza, marking the third fatality in just 24 hours.
The soldier, identified as 37-year-old reserve sergeant Moti Rav, was killed in combat. Rav, a resident of Shani in the West Bank, was a member of the combat engineering unit in the Givati Brigade.
This announcement follows the death of Corporal Noam Dweik, 19, who was also killed in southern Gaza on Thursday.
Dweik, from Kiryat Motzkin, was serving with the 9th Battalion of the 401st Armored Brigade.
During the same incident, two other soldiers from the 9th Battalion sustained serious injuries and were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment.
The Israeli military reported that Dweik died from inhaling toxic gas while asleep, a result of gas emitted from a generator operating near the fans in a sealed room, in violation of Israeli military protocols.
Additionally, the Israeli military disclosed the death of Captain Ariel Topaz, 24, from Pardes Hanna, who succumbed to injuries sustained in an attack at the Nir Tzvi junction near the Tserifin military base on July 14.
