At least 28 members of the Syrian army were killed in attacks carried out by ISIS militants in Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported today, Friday.
The observatory stated that 22 Syrian soldiers and fighters were killed in an attack on a military bus late on Thursday.
Seven others were injured in the attack, which occurred near the town of Al-Tayyibah in the eastern part of the country.
The observatory also reported the killing of six Syrian soldiers in another attack in the Deir ez-Zor Governorate in eastern Syria.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the observatory stated that ISIS is believed to be behind these attacks.
The Syrian Civil War, which began in 2011, has been one of the most devastating conflicts in recent history. It has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths, millions of displaced persons, and widespread destruction of infrastructure.
Various factions, including the Syrian government, opposition forces, Kurdish forces, and extremist groups like ISIS, have been involved in the conflict, leading to a complex and protracted war.
The fight against ISIS has been a significant aspect of the conflict, with multiple parties engaging in battles against the extremist group across different parts of Syria.
Despite significant territorial losses, ISIS remnants continue to pose a threat, carrying out attacks against military and civilian targets.
