Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced that more than 20,000 injured people remain in the Gaza Strip, following the evacuation of the first batch of wounded and sick to Egypt last Wednesday via the Rafah crossing.

In a released statement, the organization highlighted the limited access to healthcare for the wounded due to the ongoing blockade and continuous bombardment by the Israeli army.

ThE MSF disclosed that its 22 international staff members have managed to leave Gaza.

The organization stressed in its statement, “Those wishing to leave Gaza must be allowed to do so without further delay and without infringing on their right to return to Gaza later,” calling for an “immediate ceasefire.”

The MSF emphasized in its statement the necessity to allow essential medical supplies and humanitarian workers into Gaza, as hospitals are overwhelmed and the healthcare system is on the brink of total collapse.

This unfolding situation sheds light on the dire need for immediate humanitarian intervention to alleviate the suffering of the injured and the sick in the Gaza Strip, amidst the ongoing conflict.
