Three members of a single family, including two children, were injured in a landmine explosion in Taiz city, southwestern Yemen, in the latest of Houthi mine crimes that claim civilian lives almost daily.

A medical source at the Thawra Hospital in Taiz clarified that the injured are a woman and two children.

The names of the injured are Majda Ahmed Makred (20 years old) and Hanin Osman (7 years old), Abd al-Nour Saeed Makred, residents of the Al-Kidhah area, west of Taiz city.

It was added that the health condition of the injured child Hanin is critical, and she is currently hospitalized at the Thawra Hospital.

In the same context, a Yemeni human rights observatory revealed the killing and injury of 13 civilians due to Houthi mines and explosive remnants of war in four Yemeni governorates since the beginning of the current May.

The Yemen Mine Observatory said in a statement today, Wednesday, that a civilian named “Mohammed Ali Mohsen” (34 years old) was killed in a mine explosion by the Houthis in the vicinity of the Directorate of Al-Durayhimi Center in Al-Hudaydah.

The observatory explained in its statement that during the current May, it recorded the killing of 5 civilians, one of them a child, and the injury of 8 civilians, including 4 children and a woman, in explosions of Houthi mines and explosive devices.

The observatory pointed out that the incidents occurred in the governorates of Al-Hudaydah (west), Taiz (southwest), Lahj (south), and Al-Bayda (central Yemen).

According to international reports, the Houthi group planted more than two million mines in several Yemeni governorates, forcing about five million people to leave their homes and lands and flee to other areas to escape from explosives that still claim more civilians almost daily, with about a third of them being children and women.
