A court in Tripoli has sentenced two Syrians to eight years in prison for kidnapping three Egyptians for ransom, according to a statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The office explained, in a post on its Facebook page, that the prosecution accused two Syrian nationals of deliberately kidnapping three Egyptian undocumented migrants to force their relatives to pay financial amounts for their release.
It added that the Tripoli Appeals Court ruled in its latest sessions to convict the defendants and punish them with eight years’ imprisonment, and ordered the forfeiture of the benefits obtained from the crime.
