The Government Media Office in Gaza announced today that the number of journalists killed since the onset of the ongoing war has risen to 175.
This figure includes the assassination of journalist Hassan Hamad, adding to the mounting casualties.
The office condemned Israel for targeting and killing Palestinian journalists, holding it fully responsible for what it described as a heinous crime.
The statement, released on its official Telegram channel, called on the international community and organizations concerned with press freedom to take immediate action.
It urged global bodies to hold Israel accountable in international courts for its ongoing crimes, including the killing of journalists, and to press for an end to what it labeled as genocide against the people of Gaza.
In a separate incident, at least 21 Palestinians were killed, and dozens injured, in an airstrike by Israeli forces in Deir al-Balah, located in central Gaza, early Sunday morning.
According to medical sources, Israeli warplanes bombed a mosque sheltering displaced people near the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
Many of the victims were children, with some arriving at the hospital with severe injuries, including decapitation.
Medical teams are reportedly overwhelmed, struggling to prioritize treatment for the most critical cases. The situation is exacerbated by severe shortages of medical supplies, including essential drugs, which is hindering efforts to save lives.
