Fearing the escalation of conflict in the Middle East, several global airlines have either suspended their flights to the region or avoided certain airspace.

This move reflects growing concerns about safety amidst increasing regional tensions.

Aegean Airlines

The Greek national carrier has cancelled all its flights to and from Beirut, Amman, and Tel Aviv until August 19.

Air Algérie

This airline has temporarily suspended flights to and from Lebanon until further notice.

Air Baltic

Owned by the Latvian government, it has cancelled all its flights to and from Tel Aviv until August 18.

Air India

Air France-KLM Group

Air France resumed its flights between Paris and Beirut on August 15 after a two-week suspension. Meanwhile, KLM, the Dutch arm, has cancelled all its flights to and from Tel Aviv until October 26.

Transavia, its low-cost unit, has also cancelled flights to and from Tel Aviv until March 31, 2025, and to Amman until November 3.

Cathay Pacific

The Hong Kong-based airline has cancelled all its flights to Tel Aviv until March 27, 2025.

Delta Airlines

The American airline has extended the suspension of flights between New York and Tel Aviv until August 31.

EasyJet

According to a spokesperson, the British low-cost airline stopped its flights to and from Tel Aviv in April and plans to resume them on March 30, 2025.

Finnair

Continues to avoid Iranian airspace, potentially extending flight times to and from Doha.

ITA Airways

The Italian airline has extended the suspension of its flights to and from Tel Aviv until August 19.

LOT Polish Airlines

According to an email statement sent to Reuters, it has suspended flights to Israel until August 18 and to Beirut until August 26.

Lufthansa Group

This includes Swiss Air Lines, Brussels Airlines, and Austrian Airlines, which are also avoiding Iranian and Iraqi airspace. They announced suspensions of flights to and from Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman, and Erbil until August 21.

Ryanair

Europe’s largest low-cost carrier has cancelled flights to and from Tel Aviv until September 3 due to “operational restrictions.”

Singapore Airlines

It has ceased flying over Iranian airspace and is taking alternative routes.

TAROM

The Romanian national carrier has extended its flight suspension to Tel Aviv, Amman, and Beirut until August 19.

United Airlines

The Chicago-based airline has suspended its flights to Tel Aviv indefinitely. It previously suspended daily flights from Newark, New Jersey, to Tel Aviv on July 31, citing security concerns.

Vueling

The Spanish low-cost airline, part of the International Airlines Group (IAG), has cancelled all its flights to Tel Aviv and Amman until October 26.

UK Advisories

The UK has advised airlines to avoid Lebanese airspace from August 8 to November 4, citing a “potential risk to aviation from military activity.”

These widespread disruptions underscore the significant impact of regional instability on international travel and the cautious approach taken by airlines amidst ongoing security challenges.

Meanwhile, the death toll in Gaza has risen to 40,005, with the majority of the victims being children and women, since the onset of the Israeli occupation’s assault on October 7.

In a statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Health added that the number of injuries has surged to 92,401 since the beginning of the aggression. Thousands of victims are still trapped under the rubble.
