The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced today (Saturday) that they have killed 15 Israeli soldiers east of Rafah in southern Gaza.

According to a statement by Al-Qassam, reported by the Palestinian Press Agency (Safa) on the platform X, their fighters “eliminated 15 Zionist soldiers after a Qassam unit stormed a house where a large number of soldiers were fortified and engaged them at close range. Subsequently, our fighters detonated an anti-personnel explosive device in the Al-Tanour neighborhood, east of Rafah city in the southern sector.”

The statement also mentioned that a “Zionist Merkava 4 tank was targeted with a Yassin 105 shell in the same area,” according to the German news agency DPA.

The Israeli army initiated an operation in eastern Rafah last Monday amid regional and international warnings about the repercussions of a military campaign in a city that houses nearly 1.5 million Palestinians displaced from various parts of Gaza due to Israeli military operations.

In related news, the agency reported that Israeli forces continue their assault on the Jabalia refugee camp for the seventh consecutive day.

Artillery shelling resumed in the western areas of Jabalia camp at 9:30 AM local time today. Safa reported that Israeli occupation forces are still preventing medical teams from reaching the bodies in the streets for several days.
