12 Injured in Residential Building Explosion Algeria

A tragic event unfolded in Annaba, Algeria when an explosion rocked a residential building, leaving 12 people injured.

The emergency services confirmed the incident in a statement released on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

According to the statement, the explosion occurred on the fourth floor of a six-story residential building located in the El Bouni area, situated within the municipality and district of El Bouni.

The blast resulted in 12 people sustaining varying degrees of burns.

This incident comes amidst concerns about safety standards in residential buildings. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the explosion.

Residents are urged to follow safety guidelines and protocols.

On Friday, French authorities confirmed the death of one French national and the detainment of another in Algeria. This announcement follows Moroccan media reports that indicated the killing of two tourists of Moroccan and French nationality by Algerian coast guards. The French Foreign Ministry has acknowledged the loss of one citizen, although the details surrounding the death remain unclear at this point.

The Foreign Ministry stated that its Crisis and Support Center, along with the French Embassies in Morocco and Algeria, are in “close contact” with the families of the affected citizens, offering them “full support.” The ministry did not divulge further details regarding the circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
