The Interfax news agency reported on Saturday that the Russian Federal Security Service informed President Vladimir Putin about the arrest of 11 individuals following an attack near Moscow on Friday, which resulted in casualties. The agency stated that four of the arrested were directly involved in the attack, and efforts are ongoing to track down more accomplices. Additionally, a Russian investigative committee announced that the death toll from an attack on a music concert hall near Moscow has risen to 93.
Hours before this announcement, Alexander Khinshtein, a member of the Russian State Duma, stated on Telegram that two suspects involved in the Moscow-area attack had been arrested in the Bryansk region of Russia after a car chase. He added that other suspects fled on foot into a nearby forest.
At least 62 people were killed and more than 100 others injured when gunmen in camouflage opened fire with automatic weapons during a concert at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow on Friday, marking one of the worst attacks Russia has faced in years. Russian media reported a second explosion inside the building, with some gunmen believed to have barricaded themselves inside. The shooting apparently started during a concert by the band “Picnic.” The terrorist group ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack near Moscow, stating on Telegram that its fighters “attacked a large gathering in the outskirts of the Russian capital, Moscow.”
