The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip has announced a staggering number of over one million infectious disease cases as a result of displacement caused by the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza, which has persisted for over half a year.
In a recent update, the office disclosed that there are 1,089,000 cases of infectious diseases due to displacement, including 8,000 cases of epidemic hepatitis.
The war has forced the majority of Palestinians in northern and central Gaza to flee to the southern city of Rafah.
The Media Office also highlighted the dire situation of healthcare in the region, pointing out that there are 10,000 cancer patients facing death and in urgent need of treatment, and 11,000 individuals with severe injuries requiring medical attention abroad to save their lives.
According to the office, Israel has committed 2,941 massacres in the sector since the onset of “Operation Al Aqsa” on October 7th.
The conflict has resulted in the death of 140 journalists, 65 civil defence workers, and 485 medical staff, and has left 7,000 individuals missing.
Additionally, 17,000 children are living without one or both parents due to the war.
The office also addressed the famine that has struck parts of the sector, reporting that 30 children have died as a result of starvation. Moreover, it highlighted the risk faced by 60,000 pregnant women due to the lack of available healthcare services.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip updated the toll of the Israeli war on the sector, reporting 33,207 deaths and 75,933 injuries.
This announcement underscores the devastating humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza, as the conflict continues to take a heavy toll on its population.
