In a tragic incident in Houston, Texas, one person was killed and four others were injured in a shooting during a brawl outside a nightclub. According to Houston Police, the incident occurred early Sunday morning at around 3:00 AM local time (0900 GMT). Assistant Police Chief Megan Howard, in a press conference, reported that the shooting erupted after a “firearm exchange.” A man attempted to flee the scene along a service road but succumbed to his injuries.
Howard stated that the deceased, a young man in his twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene. She also mentioned that five individuals fled the shooting site in a truck, which appeared to be stolen, as per ABC News.
Furthermore, four men were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Three of them sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the fourth suffered serious injuries. Officials believe the nightclub was hosting an event on Saturday night, and authorities are now working to determine if the individuals involved in the shooting had attended the event.
On Christmas Eve, a fatal shooting occurred at Clase Azul Night Club & Bar in Guntersville, Alabama. The incident, which took place early in the morning, resulted in the death of 22-year-old Hillard Randall Kimbrough. The Marshall County Coroner’s Office confirmed his death at the scene, and an active homicide investigation is currently underway by the Guntersville Police Department.
In May, seven people were killed in Henryetta, Oklahoma by a man who had been released early from prison, where he was serving a sentence for first-degree rape. The victims included his wife, her three children, and their two friends.
In Kentucky, six people were killed and eight were injured in a shooting at a bank that took place in April. The gunman, a former bank worker, was killed in an exchange of fire with the police.
In another incident, seven people, including three adults and three students, were killed by a former student at a private Christian school in a shooting in Tennessee.
