The United States, United Kingdom, France, and China have jointly called for restraint and an end to foreign interference in Libya, emphasizing the need for an inclusive political dialogue among all Libyan factions.
During a United Nations Security Council meeting on Libya, US Deputy Ambassador for Political Affairs Robert Wood urged all Libyan parties to return to the negotiating table. He emphasized the importance of supporting the UN Secretary-General’s efforts to establish a credible roadmap for elections.
The UK’s representative to the UN reiterated full support for all efforts to foster an inclusive political dialogue in Libya, involving all relevant parties.
France’s envoy to the UN highlighted the importance of safeguarding Libya’s sovereignty and reaffirmed France’s ongoing support for the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
China’s representative also called on all Libyan factions to exercise restraint, build trust, and engage in dialogue to resolve their differences. He stressed the importance of avoiding the imposition of external solutions and ending foreign interference in Libya’s internal affairs.
This united stance by major global powers underscores the international community’s focus on achieving stability in Libya through diplomatic means and political inclusivity.
