WhatsApp is developing a feature that enables users to directly share their Status as an Instagram Story from within the app.
This functionality was identified in the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android, version 2.23.25.20, which is accessible on the Google Play Store, according to a report from WABetaInfo.
The feature will be found in the Status Privacy settings. Users can navigate to the Status (on Android) or Updates (on iOS), click on the three horizontal dots in the top right corner, and select Status Privacy. To automatically share a WhatsApp Status to Instagram, users will choose the “Instagram” option and follow the prompts to link their account.
This integration aims to streamline the process of posting the same content across multiple platforms. It’s still in development but expected to be released in future Android updates.
Another upcoming feature, as reported by WABetaInfo, is the ability to search for users by their usernames. This will enable connections on WhatsApp without sharing phone numbers, thus preserving anonymity.
Users can simply type a username into the search bar to start a conversation. Users have the flexibility to change their usernames at any time, and this feature is anticipated to be available for both Android and iOS platforms soon.
Additionally, WhatsApp has introduced a new security feature that allows users to set a unique password for specific locked chats. This adds an extra layer of security, with the chats becoming visible only when the designated password is entered in the search bar.
