The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has urgently called for increased aid flow and enhanced protection for humanitarian workers in Gaza.

This appeal aims to ensure the delivery of essential services and aid to the population in the besieged territory.

In an interview with BBC Arabic on Monday, Inas Hamdan, the Media Director for UNRWA in Gaza, emphasized the critical need for these basic conditions to enable humanitarian teams to continue their work effectively.

Hamdan highlighted that UNRWA consistently advocates for these fundamental requirements to maintain its operations in Gaza.

Hamdan pointed out the increasing restrictions on the entry of relief aid, despite the worsening conditions across environmental, health, and food security sectors.

She warned that experts are cautioning against a potential return to the severe hunger crisis previously witnessed in Gaza.

There are growing concerns about food shortages, especially in the densely populated central and southern regions of Gaza, where resources are limited.

Hamdan stressed that the primary source of assistance for displaced individuals is the aid provided by UNRWA, supplemented by contributions from other organizations.

The situation in Gaza remains dire, and the need for international support and intervention is more pressing than ever to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.
