In the wake of a tragic incident involving the killing of a Palestinian child and the injury of his mother in Chicago, USA, the United Nations spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, has called for a global effort to combat hate speech and messages of violence.

According to the United Nations Information Center, Dujarric stated that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was unequivocal in his stance, emphasizing that demeaning rhetoric that incites violence against human dignity should never be tolerated.

Dujarric further elaborated that the Secretary-General has made a strong and clear call for political leaders worldwide to openly speak out against anti-Muslim bigotry, hate speech, and anti-Semitism. He underscored the significant responsibility placed on social media companies, emphasizing the need for these platforms to refrain from spreading hate and messages of violence that incite individuals to carry out acts similar to the tragic incident in Chicago.
