UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed has emphasized the urgent need for measures to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Speaking at a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York, Mohammed highlighted the tragic loss of life and disabilities suffered by thousands of children in Gaza, underscoring the imperative of holding onto hope and initiating the reconstruction of infrastructure, homes, and facilities.

In related developments, UNICEF announced yesterday that one of its vehicles was hit by live ammunition while waiting to enter the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The incident, disclosed in a statement on the platform “X,” underscored the ongoing risks faced by humanitarian workers in delivering life-saving aid.

“Yesterday, a vehicle waiting to enter northern Gaza was struck by live ammunition,” UNICEF stated.

The organization further noted the essential protection required for humanitarian aid workers under international humanitarian law, stressing that without this protection, it is impossible to deliver aid to those in need.

This call to action and the reported attack on a UNICEF vehicle underscore the dire circumstances in Gaza and the critical need for international intervention to ensure the safety and well-being of its population, particularly the vulnerable children affected by the ongoing conflict.
