UN Security Council Delays Vote on Gaza Ceasefire Resolution

The United Nations Security Council has postponed the voting on an alternative resolution concerning a ceasefire in Gaza, originally scheduled for Saturday, to Monday.

Diplomatic sources revealed that the delay came after Russia and China exercised their veto power on Friday to block a US-proposed resolution aimed at halting the conflict in Gaza.

The postponement allows for further discussions on the alternative resolution, which was prepared by several non-permanent members of the Security Council.

The international community is closely monitoring these developments, as the situation in Gaza continues to be a significant point of concern on the global stage.

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohammed Al-Badawi, has urged the international community to act swiftly to end the suffering of the Palestinian people from the daily atrocities of Israeli racial discrimination committed by Tel Aviv.

Al-Badawi reaffirmed, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on March 21, the commitment of the Gulf Cooperation Council states to the principles outlined in the Declaration of Human Rights of the Gulf Cooperation Council Arab States, enshrined in their constitutions and national legislations.

Pointing to Article 2 of the Declaration, which stipulates that “All individuals are equal in human dignity, rights, and freedoms, and are equal before the law, without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, language, color, or any other form of discrimination,” Al-Badawi emphasized the GCC states’ respect for the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
