The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has confirmed the displacement of at least 60,000 people from areas east of Gaza City, spanning over 7 square kilometers.

The UN Information Center quoted OCHA today, Monday, stating that “the Israeli military operation in the Al-Mawasi area has resulted in the displacement of at least 5,000 people.” OCHA emphasized that ongoing insecurity and hostile activities significantly hinder the delivery of essential humanitarian assistance and services throughout Gaza. This includes vital food aid, nutrition support, medical care, shelter assistance, water and sanitation services, and hygiene for hundreds of thousands of needy individuals.

OCHA further clarified that Israeli authorities have only allowed half of the planned humanitarian aid to reach northern Gaza, while the remainder of humanitarian missions have either been hindered, prevented, or canceled due to logistical, operational, or security reasons.

Gaza’s death toll has risen sharply to 37,765 as Israel’s ongoing attacks intensify, with 47 Palestinians killed in the latest wave of violence, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Since October 7, 2023, at least 86,429 others have been injured, the ministry reported. The recent casualties include 47 fatalities and 52 injuries in what the ministry described as three separate attacks targeting families, labeled as “massacres.”

Rescue efforts are hampered as many remain trapped under rubble or stranded on roads inaccessible to rescuers, the ministry added
