The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate as Israeli military strikes escalate, raising alarms from United Nations officials about the growing danger to civilians.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported that an Israeli airstrike on Thursday targeted a school in central Gaza, where women and children had gathered for malnutrition treatment, leading to multiple casualties.

Adele Khodr, UNICEF’s regional director for the Middle East and North Africa, expressed deep concern over the rising civilian toll, especially among vulnerable groups like children and mothers.

“This attack serves as yet another stark reminder of the immense toll being inflicted on children and mothers in Gaza,” Khodr stated on social media, adding that two health workers from a partner organization had also been killed in the strike.

The intensifying military action has exacerbated an already dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with UN officials calling for immediate efforts to protect civilians and provide essential aid to those in need.
