United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that recent Israeli evacuation orders have escalated displacement in Gaza.
These areas were previously subjected to a comprehensive evacuation directive issued last October across North Gaza.
According to the UN Media Center, the affected neighborhoods include over 60 shelters, originally schools, along with two hospitals operating partially, six medical points, and two primary healthcare centers.
Reports indicate that staff and patients have evacuated the hospitals in the area covered by the evacuation order.
The ongoing combat, destroyed roads, restrictions on humanitarian access, and the lack of public order and safety continue to undermine movement along the main route for humanitarian shipments from the Kerem Shalom crossing to Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah.
The United Nations highlighted that these constraints have led to a severe shortage of fuel and aid needed to sustain humanitarian operations. This also increases the risk of perishable supplies, particularly food, spoiling on trucks due to high summer temperatures.
Humanitarian partners have disclosed that the supply shortage forced them to reduce food rations in central and southern Gaza during June.
This situation has also compromised their ability to keep bakeries and community kitchens operational, with only three out of 18 UN-supported bakeries in Gaza currently functional.
These three are located in Deir al-Balah, while a fuel shortage has caused nine partially operational bakeries to halt their operations entirely.
