Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Europe to arm itself and develop joint production of weapons to face any global circumstance that may arise.
During a conference in Sweden via video link, Zelenskyy stated that one of the most difficult challenges today is the fight against Russian disinformation in the world.
The Ukrainian leader affirmed his country’s priorities in relations with the European Union (EU) and NATO are clear.
He plans to fully implement the decision to open Ukraine’s EU accession talks, prepare the negotiation framework, and develop a system of relations and communication with NATO members that will allow every state and every leader to recognize that NATO will become much stronger with Ukraine as its part.
“Russia is helped circumvent by manufacturing companies or intermediary companies in Europe, the US – everywhere. And I would pay attention to this, especially those bodies that deal with sanctions policy,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.
On its part, Russia recently requested a meeting of the United Nations Security Council to discuss Western arms supplies to Ukraine.
The agency cited a source in the organization stating, “Russia has requested a Security Council meeting on January 22 to discuss Western arms supplies to Ukraine.”
Additionally, Western countries requested a Security Council meeting on January 10 to discuss the alleged arms supplies from North Korea to Russia.
Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has repeatedly dismissed the accusations of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea as baseless.
In an unexpected visit to Ukraine, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa announced a significant contribution of $37 million to a NATO fund aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s defense against the ongoing Russian invasion.
