The Ukrainian Air Force reported on Monday that the country’s air defense systems successfully intercepted 14 out of 17 drones launched by Russia overnight, along with a KH-59 cruise missile.
The air force announced this development through the messaging app Telegram, highlighting the effectiveness of Ukraine’s defense capabilities in countering aerial threats.
In addition to drone attacks, the Ukrainian military noted that Russia also deployed long-range S-300 surface-to-air missiles against Ukraine.
However, the Air Force did not specify the number of missiles launched or whether they hit their intended targets.
Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region in northeastern Ukraine, reported late Sunday that Russia targeted the area with missiles fired from the S-300 system located in the neighboring Belgorod region of Russia.
According to preliminary information, there were no casualties, but some non-residential buildings sustained damage to their facades.
This latest assault underscores the ongoing tensions and conflict in the region, with both sides employing advanced weaponry in their military engagements.
The Ukrainian military announced that the number of Russian soldiers killed since the beginning of the Russian war on Ukraine in February 2022 has risen to 395,200, including 930 soldiers who died yesterday, Saturday alone.
This information was disclosed in a statement released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on their Facebook page, as reported by the Ukrainian National News Agency “Ukrinform”.
According to the statement, the Ukrainian forces have destroyed 6,406 tanks, including 12 tanks, 11,956 armored combat vehicles, 9,475 artillery systems, 981 multiple launch rocket systems, and 666 air defense systems.
