Ukraine’s military has officially incorporated the SCALP-EG, the French version of the UK’s Storm Shadow cruise missile.

Despite France’s commitment to delivering the SCALP-EG to Ukraine as early as May and reconfirmation in July, it was only after photographs emerged from President Zelensky’s visit to a Su-24 Fencer missile unit that its active deployment was validated.

During his visit, Zelensky autographed a SCALP-EG missile, which was distinctively marked with French flag colors and featured a combination of the Ukrainian emblem and the Eiffel Tower.

SCALP-EG, manufactured by MBDA, translates to “Long Range Autonomous Cruise Missile System – General Purpose” from its original French name.

A tweet from Ukraine’s Defense Ministry highlighted the missile’s involvement in targeting bridges in Chongar and Henichesk, which are vital routes connecting occupied Crimea to Russian forces up north.

However, the specifics of this claim remain ambiguous, possibly indicating the use of two launch platforms, one French and the other Ukrainian.
