In a Telegram post, as reported by Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform on Saturday, Zelensky stated, “I met with Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris, and we discussed support for Ukraine and continued cooperation in mine clearance and cybersecurity.”
Zelensky and Harris also reviewed the next steps for implementing the decisions of the Ukrainian Peace Summit in Switzerland and the efforts needed to increase global awareness of the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children by Russia.
Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Ireland for its support of the Peace Summit and thanked the Prime Minister for his significant personal involvement in efforts to return the children to their homeland.
The Irish government has provided €250 million (£210 million) in non-lethal military aid to Ukraine through the European Peace Facility.
Additionally, Ireland has welcomed over 108,000 Ukrainians under the European Union’s temporary protection directive.
In a recent summit in Washington, NATO leaders committed to providing Ukraine with at least 40 billion euros in military aid over the next year to support its defense against Russia.
The declaration stated that the allies plan to secure a minimum of 40 billion euros in essential funding over the next year through proportional contributions.
This funding aims to provide sustainable levels of security assistance to ensure Ukraine’s victory, according to Agence France-Presse.
