Overnight, Ukrainian defense forces successfully intercepted 11 out of 13 “kamikaze” drones and 2 out of 4 Kh-59 cruise missiles fired by Russia, according to the Air Force’s report on February 27.
The drones were launched from Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Krasnodar Krai and Kursk Oblast of Russia.
Additionally, from territories under Russian control in Donetsk and Kherson oblasts, four Kh-59 missiles and one anti-radar Kh-31P missile were launched
Moreover, Russian forces utilized a site in Voronezh Oblast to launch an attack on Ukraine with either Iskander-M ballistic missiles or similar North Korean KN-23 missiles.
The downed drones and missiles were targeted over the regions of Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Kirovohrad.
Ukraine’s authorities expressed frustration on Sunday over the delayed delivery of weapons and military aid from Western countries, a critical issue for Kyiv amid ongoing conflicts.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov highlighted that half of the weapons promised by the West to Ukraine are delivered behind schedule, impacting the frontline dynamics significantly.
During a forum marking the second anniversary of the Ukrainian crisis, Umerov pointed out the discrepancy between commitment and actual delivery, stating, “Currently, a pledge does not equate to delivery, with 50% of commitments not being fulfilled on time.”
He emphasized the dire consequences of these delays, including loss of lives and territory.
The Ukrainian military, facing an increasingly challenging situation, has had to withdraw from strategic locations such as the town of Avdiivka in the east due to shortages in manpower and ammunition.
