Ukrainian Parliament’s Human Rights Commissioner, Dmitry Lubinets, announced plans for a significant prisoner exchange with Russia, focusing on female prisoners. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is assisting both sides in this process.
Lubinets stated, “The UAE is helping us. We can say this openly,” during an interview with Novoeizdanie.
In early June, Russian President Vladimir Putin disclosed that 1,348 Russian soldiers and officers are held in Ukraine, while Russia detains 6,465 Ukrainian military personnel.
Previously, the UAE has mediated prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine. In late May, through UAE mediation, Russia and Ukraine exchanged 75 soldiers each. Additionally, Russia returned the bodies of 212 Ukrainian soldiers.
