The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has issued instructions to organize an air bridge of urgent humanitarian aid to assist Moroccans affected by the recent earthquake in some regions of Morocco.

This initiative aims to provide various forms of support during this challenging time.

The UAE‘s state news agency, WAM, stated that this initiative falls within the framework of the strong brotherly relations between the UAE and Morocco, aiming to enhance efforts to address the crisis and reflect the nation’s approach of solidarity and support for fellow nations and people, particularly during difficult circumstances.

The UAE has expressed its condolences and solidarity with the Kingdom of Morocco in the wake of the earthquake that struck southwestern Marrakech, resulting in the loss of hundreds of lives and injuries.

In a statement released on Saturday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed its deepest condolences to the Moroccan government, the Moroccan people, and the families of the victims affected by this tragic event. The ministry also extended its wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

The Moroccan Interior Ministry reported that the death toll from the earthquake, which occurred last Friday with its epicenter located in the Igil community in the Al Haouz region near Marrakech, has risen to 632 dead, with 329 people injured.
