UAE & Russia Discuss Cooperation

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, met with His Excellency President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation to discuss various aspects of their bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them within the framework of the strategic partnership that unites the two countries. The discussions also covered a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

This meeting took place at the Kremlin today as part of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s official visit to the Russian Federation. The session reviewed the progress of UAE-Russian relations in recent times, particularly in economic, trade, investment, space, and energy sectors, among others, highlighting the strategic partnership’s role in fostering development on multiple levels.

The discussion also touched on the BRICS summit and the role of the group in supporting international collective action to achieve shared global goals. His Highness appreciated President Putin’s leadership of the BRICS group during its current session and wished Russia success in its presidency.

His Highness reiterated the UAE’s commitment to building effective partnerships with various countries worldwide and enhancing multilateral international cooperation to achieve sustainable development and prosperity for all peoples.

The two leaders exchanged views on several regional and international issues of mutual concern, with His Highness affirming the UAE’s consistent approach to supporting efforts for peace and stability worldwide, as well as promoting peaceful solutions and initiatives to conflicts.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the situation in the Middle East, with His Highness emphasizing the need to work towards preventing the expansion of conflict in the region, which threatens its security and stability, and finding a clear political horizon for fair and comprehensive peace based on the “two-state solution” to ensure stability and security for all.

President Putin welcomed His Highness to Russia, expressing gratitude and appreciation for the UAE’s mediation efforts, which have recently resulted in the successful exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine. His Highness thanked the Russian government for its cooperation, which played a significant role in the success of these efforts, emphasizing the UAE’s continued commitment to humanitarian initiatives.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Excellency Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council; His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; His Excellency Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Advisor to the President on Strategic and Advanced Technology Research; His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Eagle Hills; and Mohamed Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to the Russian Federation. A number of Russian ministers and senior officials also attended the meeting.
