The meeting served as a preparatory session for the upcoming 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Expressing gratitude to the government of Uganda for hosting the event, Almarar congratulated its leadership on securing the Presidency for the term 2024-2027. He also commended the Republic of Azerbaijan for its efforts during its previous presidential term.

In his address, Almarar underscored the UAE’s unwavering commitment to the principles and vision of the movement. The UAE is dedicated to strengthening multilateralism and cooperation to address challenges and achieve common goals, grounded in international law and the UN Charter’s objectives. He emphasized the importance of fostering friendly relations between nations, resolving conflicts through peaceful means, and upholding the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.

Furthermore, Almarar highlighted the UAE’s dedication to cultivating a culture of peace, advocating against the use of force and interference in internal affairs of nations. The minister stressed the importance of resolving disputes peacefully, adhering to the UN charter and international law.

Addressing the issue of the three Emirati islands occupied by Iran, Almarar reiterated the UAE’s support for peaceful initiatives and efforts to resolve the matter through bilateral negotiations or by referring the case to the International Court of Justice, in accordance with international law.

Turning attention to the situation in the Gaza Strip, Almarar emphasized the UAE’s commitment to working towards a ceasefire. The focus is on safeguarding civilian lives, providing sustainable relief and medical aid, and preventing any regional spillover that could jeopardize security and stability in the region. The UAE’s priorities include diplomatic efforts to ensure a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
