Tunisian President Kais Saied and French President Emmanuel Macron have jointly called for an immediate halt to the war in Gaza, labeling it a genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people by Israeli forces.
The call came during a telephone conversation between the two leaders, where they discussed several issues, including bilateral relations between Tunisia and France, Tunisia’s relations with the European Union, and the rapid developments occurring globally, as stated by the Tunisian presidency in a statement on Thursday.
Tunisian President Saied emphasized Tunisia’s desire to engage with all partners on an equal footing and to approach various issues with a fresh perspective that prioritizes mutual interests and shared human values.
Furthermore, the Tunisian President highlighted the growing problem of illegal migration, noting the unusual increase in migrants from sub-Saharan Africa.
He stressed the necessity of joining forces to dismantle the criminal networks behind human and organ trafficking, asserting that Tunisia does not accept these individuals settling in the country, deeming it unacceptable and suspicious.
This joint declaration underscores the urgency of addressing both the conflict in Gaza and broader regional issues impacting Tunisia and the broader international community.
