Tunisian President Kais Saied met with Saudi Minister of Industry Bandar Alkhereif and his delegation at Carthage Palace on Tuesday, reaffirming the importance of bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest.
According to a statement from the Tunisian presidency, Saied praised the “deep ties of brotherhood and solidarity” between Tunisia and Saudi Arabia, dating back to before Tunisia’s independence. He also reiterated his “firm commitment to continue working together to further strengthen these strong ties and diversify them in all areas for the benefit of the Tunisian and Saudi peoples and their common interests.”
Saied also stressed Tunisia’s commitment to “providing a healthy and conducive environment to encourage businessmen and investors to invest in the country and establish partnerships and exchanges with their Tunisian counterparts in several promising sectors such as renewable energy, water desalination, healthcare, and the pharmaceutical industry, and providing all the reasons for the success of this cooperation in all areas.”
For his part, the Saudi minister said that “the intensive and high-level participation of representatives of Saudi official bodies and businesses in the joint committee that is holding its sessions in Tunisia reflects the Kingdom’s strong commitment, under the guidance of the Saudi leadership, to give a stronger impetus to bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest.”
He also expressed the “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s determination to launch new projects and encourage businessmen and investors to strengthen their presence in Tunisia, in light of the reforms that the country is witnessing that could restore confidence in the investment environment there.”
