The Tunisian Prime Minister, Ahmed Al-Hashany, held discussions today, Thursday, at the Kasbah Government Palace with Nodria Mansirova, the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) mission.
The meeting revolved around bolstering cooperation between Tunisia and the bank, with a primary focus on infrastructure, sustainable development, and boosting the competitiveness of the Tunisian economy.
In a statement released later in the evening, the Prime Minister lauded the EBRD’s efforts in supporting Tunisia, particularly in the economic, financial, and technical sectors. He emphasized the bank’s significant role in the green economy, especially in areas related to energy, environment, economic and social inclusion of women, youth, and vulnerable groups.
On her part, Mansirova, representing the EBRD mission, expressed the financial institution’s intent to continue backing Tunisia, providing financial and logistical support during this pivotal phase of reforms.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is an international financial institution founded in 1991. Its primary goal is to support countries transitioning towards open-market economies. Tunisia, as a member country, has been a recipient of EBRD investments, particularly after the 2011 revolution.
The North African nation has been grappling with economic challenges, and partnerships with institutions like the EBRD are crucial for its sustainable development and economic reforms. Over the years, such collaborations have proved invaluable in supporting various sectors, from infrastructure and energy to the empowerment of marginalized groups
