Tunisian President Kais Saied has relieved Mohamed Ali Boughdiri of his duties as Minister of Education, as announced by the presidency on Monday.

The statement released by the presidency did not provide a specific reason for the dismissal.

In his place, President Saied has appointed Salwa Abbassi, who previously served as the general inspector of secondary education, to assume the role of Minister of Education.

Mohamed Ali Boughdiri was appointed to the position of Minister of Education on January 30th of the previous year, during the tenure of Najla Bouden Romdhane as prime minister. Romdhane was subsequently removed from her position on August 1, 2023.

This decision comes amidst a series of dismissals ordered by President Saied in recent months, including the removal of the transport minister and the culture minister from their respective posts.
